Ken’s 2nd Quarter 2019 Recap
I’m purposely burying the lead for this quarter’s update as there are a couple important items to review before the BIG news on the personal side – take a look:
Blog
As you may have noticed, I’ve transitioned the Ken Logan Quarterly Recap over to our blog on the Jones Financial Group (JFG) website. One of us at JFG will post a quick 2-3 minute read on a topic every 2 weeks and I decided to use my Quarterly Recap as one of the biweekly posts. Admittedly, as frequent readers know, the quarterly updates are a longer read than we intend for a typical blog post.
Please provide any feedback you have on the new blog as we get it up and running!
On the business side
In a first for me, I’ve hired a summer intern! Stevie Rozyckie is going into his senior year at Cumberland Valley High School and will spend about 8 weeks working for me part time over summer break. I’ve already got him waist deep in analysis and number crunching, but clients can also expect to get a call from Stevie late July/early August. He’s going to reach out to everyone to make sure we have your correct contact information as well as update your communication preferences (text/email/call). The call shouldn’t take more than 3 minutes
Also you will notice we’ll be unveiling the Jones Financial Group logo in July. We’re transitioning to using JFG as our brand strictly for marketing purposes. Waddell & Reed is still our home and operationally nothing will change with our “switch” to JFG.

On the personal side
THE TWINS ARE HERE! Welcome to the world Lenora Pauline Logan, born July 1st at 11:31am - 5 lbs. 11 oz. AND Agatha Wynne Logan, born July 1st at 11:32 am – 4 lbs. 14 oz. Lesley had been carrying around 10 lbs. and 9 oz. of baby!
Momma Lesley is doing great and is relieved for the pregnancy to be over. Suffice to say it was difficult on her, but she was a trooper throughout!
All were home from the hospital on the Fourth of July.
Lots of little stories, already some firsts and plenty of sleepless nights as we get adjusted to the new normal. Lesley will be off work for a couple months yet and then the joys of daycare can begin. Thankfully the dog, Mickey, seems unimpressed and largely ignores the girls. He doesn’t know it yet but they’ll all be best friends when the girls get to the highchair / food dropping stage.
Lenora has just started to become a sympathetic crier (when her sister cries it makes her sad too) and Aggie rolled over for the first time from belly to back at 4 days old! She’s not an expert yet but has done it half a dozen times.

Anyways – sure to be an adventure moving forward and I’ll keep you all posted. I have been working “part-time” for weeks 2 and 3 and I should be back to a normal(ish) schedule by July 22nd.
Introductions
To add on to the baby theme – I’d love to chat with new parents. Welcoming a new family member is frequently one of those moments when people like to evaluate their finances, see where they stand and address any weaker areas of their plan. Things like college savings and life insurance are typically top of mind and these are planning areas I enjoy helping people figure out what’s suitable for them.
Events
Thursday, July 18th, City Island
Putt It Into the Park is back! If you haven’t already gotten your tickets and can’t find the email invitation, reach out to Claudia for instructions. Where else can you get a round of mini-golf, an all you can eat picnic dinner, a ballgame and parking for $25? Oh and the post-game entertainment is a Human Cannonball!!!
Waddell & Reed WealthLink Site
I continue to add users to the WealthLink site and this has been well received by clients. Having one place to look at your entire financial picture is great, plus the Vault feature, which allows us to share documents, has drastically reduced the number of secure emails that I need to send clients.
As I meet with clients I’m adding their information in but if you would like to gain access sooner, just let me know.
